Joaquin Buckley Accepts Fight for UFC 257 Card

Joaquin “New Mansa” Buckley is on a roll as of late. At UFC 255, he earned another KO victory against Jordan Wright and called out James Krause for a fight. Buckley revealed he has bad blood with Krause and wants to settle it inside the octagon.

But it looks like the UFC has other plans for Buckley as they are looking to offer him a bout against Julian Marquez in his next outing at UFC 257.

Joaquin Buckley posted this earlier. According to his manager, the UFC wants to book Buckley vs Marquez at UFC 257 on Jan. 23. He added that Buckley accepted.

Krause, who is a former lightweight and currently fights at welterweight, might have his own reasons for not taking the fight. There’s a considerable amount of weight and size difference between him and Buckley.

As for Buckley, he has started making a statement in the UFC middleweight division. Since his knockout loss to Kevin Holland, Buckley has earned back-to-back stoppage victories.

UFC 257 ‘McGregor vs Poirier 2’ could take place at UFC Apex in Vegas

While Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was able to book a highly-anticipated rematch between current lightweights contenders Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier for UFC 257 on Jan., 23, the location of the event has yet to be determined.

UFC continues its live events schedule from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 23 with its “Poirier vs. McGregor 2” pay-per-view event available to stream RIGHT HERE — don’t miss a single second of face-punching action!

UFC president Dana White has made it perfectly clear that he intends to host the event on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, but that isn’t official at this time. White is hoping to utilize “Fight Island” to actually bring back fans for McGregor’s return to the Octagon. The UFC boss even hinted at possibly doing an “International Fight Week” for the event, complete with “concerts, pool parties, and all kinds of cool stuff.”

With COVID-19 cases on the rise around the world, White and company haven’t been able to lock down a location for UFC 257. It remains in limbo and now appears to have a chance of going down from inside UFC’s APEX in Las Vegas.

Poirier vs McGregor 2 set for UFC 257

A massive bout is now official to kick off the very first UFC pay-per-view event in 2021. Two of the most exciting UFC athletes will finally rematch as #2 ranked lightweight and former interim champion Dustin Poirier faces former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor. This bout will take place at UFC 257 on January 24, 2021 (Asia time).

The first bout between Poirier vs McGregor was at featherweight and took place at UFC 178 on September 27, 2014. McGregor got the TKO at just 1:46 minutes of the first round, launching his phenomenal run through the featherweight and lightweight divisions and earning both titles. Poirier returned to lightweight and eventually succeeded in claiming the interim UFC lightweight title

Poirier (26-6, Lafayette, US), is now the number 2 ranked lightweight and former interim UFC lightweight champion. He has 12 wins by knockout and 7 by submission, and has eleven Fight and Performance of the Night awards .

The sheer amount of Fight and Performance of the Night awards (21) between Poirier and McGregor since their first meeting guarantees a spectacular rematch to launch the first numbered event of 2021. UFC 257 will take place on January 24, Asia time. The location of the event and the remainder of the card will be announced at a later date.
